How to Schedule Facebook Posts in 2026 (Pages, Groups and the App)

Yes, you can schedule Facebook posts. For a Facebook Page, open Meta Business Suite, click Create post, add your content, switch on Set date and time under Scheduling options, pick when it should go out and click Schedule. Meta lets you schedule a Page post anywhere from 20 minutes to 29 days ahead.

In the Facebook app the flow is similar: write the post, tap Next, open Scheduling options and choose Schedule for later. Group admins and moderators can schedule posts inside their groups. Regular personal profiles have no built-in scheduler.

Below are the exact steps for each place, how to edit or move a scheduled post, the errors that trip people up, and when a third-party scheduler is worth it.

How to schedule a Facebook post in Meta Business Suite

This is Meta's own method and the one most Page owners should start with. It's free and it covers Facebook and Instagram.

  1. Switch into the Page you want to post as.
  2. From the Page, click Meta Business Suite in the left menu. You can also go straight to business.facebook.com.
  3. Click Create post.
  4. Choose where to publish. Select your Page, and your Instagram account too if you want the post on both.
  5. Add your text, photos, video or link.
  6. Next to Scheduling options, switch on Set date and time.
  7. Pick the date and time. Click Active times if you want Meta's suggested times based on when your audience is online.
  8. Click Schedule.

All times are in your current time zone. If you manage a Page for an audience somewhere else, convert the time before you pick it. Not sure which time to pick? See our guide to the best time to post on Facebook.

For reels and stories, use the separate create options in Meta Business Suite. They have the same date-and-time setting.

How to schedule a Facebook post from your phone

In the Facebook app

  1. Switch to your Page (or professional-mode profile).
  2. Tap What's on your mind? and create the post.
  3. Tap Next.
  4. Under post settings, tap Scheduling options.
  5. Choose Schedule for later and set the date and time.
  6. Tap Save, then Schedule.

The Facebook app handles one post at a time. If you're planning a full week, the Meta Business Suite app or the desktop Planner is quicker.

In a Facebook Group

  1. Open the group and tap Write something.
  2. Create the post.
  3. Tap the schedule (calendar) icon and pick a date and time.
  4. Tap Schedule.

You'll only see the scheduling icon if you're an admin or moderator of the group.

How to edit, reschedule or cancel a scheduled post

Scheduled Page posts live in the Planner in Meta Business Suite:

  1. Open Meta Business Suite from your Page and click Planner.
  2. Switch between Week and Month view to find the post, then click it.
  3. Open the options menu and choose what you need:
    • Edit post to change the text, media, link or location
    • Duplicate post to reuse it as a new post
    • Reschedule post to pick a new time
    • Move to drafts to cancel the publish time but keep the post
    • Delete post to remove it

Anyone with Facebook access or task access to the Page can create and edit scheduled posts, so agree on who owns the calendar if several people manage it.

When a third-party scheduler makes sense

Meta Business Suite is enough if you only post to one Facebook Page and its Instagram account. It gets awkward when you also post to TikTok, LinkedIn, X or Pinterest, want to plan more than a month ahead in one view, or want help creating the posts themselves.

Schedule Facebook posts with ViralFarm

ViralFarm is a scheduler first. Connect your Facebook Page, write or generate a post, adjust the caption for each channel, and drop it on the calendar. You can bulk-schedule a batch of posts, schedule videos and carousels, and publish the same idea to Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn without copying and pasting.

If you work with Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, you can also ask your AI agent to draft and schedule Facebook posts through ViralFarm's MCP server. To be upfront about the trade-offs: ViralFarm doesn't recycle evergreen posts on a loop and doesn't have analytics in production yet, so you'd still check results in Meta Business Suite. The Free plan includes 2 channels and 20 published posts a month.

Fixing common Facebook scheduling problems

The time I want is greyed out

Meta Business Suite only accepts times between 20 minutes and 29 days from now. For a post further out, save it as a draft and schedule it once the date is inside the window, or use a scheduler without that limit.

The post went out at the wrong hour

Scheduling uses your current time zone. If you traveled, or a teammate in another country scheduled it, the post goes out on their clock. Double-check the time zone before saving.

I can't see the scheduling option

Check that you've switched into the Page, not your personal profile. On a personal profile without professional mode there's nothing to schedule. In Groups, only admins and moderators get the schedule icon.

My third-party tool says the post failed

The most common cause is an expired connection. Facebook connections lapse when you change your password, lose Page access or Meta asks you to log in again. Reconnect the Page in the tool and retry. Also check that you're posting to a Page, since profiles and Groups aren't supported for outside apps.

Why third-party tools can't post to Groups

Meta shut down the API that let outside apps publish to Facebook Groups in 2024. If you run a group, schedule inside Facebook using the group composer.

A simple weekly scheduling routine

  • Pick a rhythm you can keep. Three good posts a week beats seven rushed ones.
  • Batch in one sitting. Write and schedule the week's posts in a single block, ideally on the same day each week.
  • Mix formats. Alternate photos, short videos, link posts and questions so the Page doesn't feel repetitive.
  • Leave gaps for timely posts. Scheduling the basics frees you to post news and replies in the moment.
  • Review once a week. Check Page insights, see which posts got comments and shares, and plan more of those.

Frequently asked questions

Can you schedule Facebook Stories and Reels?

Yes, for Pages. Meta Business Suite has separate create options for reels and stories with the same date-and-time setting. ViralFarm also schedules video to Facebook Pages.

How far ahead can you schedule Facebook posts?

In Meta Business Suite, between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead. Anything further out has to wait as a draft.

Can I schedule posts on my personal Facebook profile?

Not on a regular profile. Turning on professional mode adds scheduling in the Facebook app. Outside apps can't post to personal profiles at all.

Can you schedule posts in a Facebook Group?

Yes, if you're an admin or moderator. Write the post in the group, tap the schedule icon, and pick a time. Meta Business Suite and third-party tools can't post to Groups.

Does scheduling hurt a post's reach?

Meta hasn't said that scheduled posts are treated differently, and Meta Business Suite is its own scheduling tool. Timing and content matter far more than how the post was published.

What time zone does Facebook use for scheduled posts?

Your current time zone. Convert times yourself if your audience is elsewhere.
