How to use the Bold Text Generator
- 1Type the words you want in bold. A hook, a label or a call to action works best.
- 2Pick a bold style: serif, sans, italic, cursive, gothic, bubble, squares or starred.
- 3Tap Copy.
- 4Paste it into your post, bio, comment or message.
- 5Preview it. If your numbers didn't turn bold, switch to Bold or Bold Sans.
How bold text works without a bold button
In a document, bold is formatting: the letters stay the same and the app draws them heavier. Social apps don't support that kind of formatting in captions, bios or comments, so bold text from a document turns plain when you paste it.
Unicode bold works differently. Unicode, the standard behind every character your phone can show, includes full sets of bold letters as separate characters. ๐ isn't a formatted B; it's its own character, "Mathematical Bold Capital B" (Unicode chart). Because it's a character, not formatting, it stays bold wherever you paste it. The generator does the swap letter by letter.
The 9 bold styles
- Bold (๐๐จ๐ฅ๐): a classic serif bold. It turns numbers bold too.
- Bold Sans (๐๐ผ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ป๐): the closest match to most apps' own font, and the safe default.
- Bold Italic (๐ฉ๐๐๐ ๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐) and Bold Italic Sans (๐ฝ๐ค๐ก๐ ๐๐ฉ๐๐ก๐๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐จ): emphasis with some movement, good for quotes.
- Bold Cursive (๐๐ธ๐ต๐ญ ๐๐พ๐ป๐ผ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ): a heavier script that stays legible on small screens.
- Bold Gothic (๐ญ๐๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐๐): blackletter for tattoo, metal and streetwear accounts.
- Black Bubble (๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ค๐ ๐ ๐ ๐ ) and Black Squares (๐ ฑ๐ ป๐ ฐ๐ ฒ๐ บ ๐๐๐๐ ฐ๐๐ ด๐): all caps and very loud. One word at most.
- Starry Bold (โ ๐ก๐ฒ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ โ ): Bold Sans framed with stars, for announcements.
Only Bold, Bold Sans, Black Bubble and Starry Bold turn numbers bold. Unicode has bold digits but no italic, script or fraktur ones (Unicode chart), so the italic, cursive and gothic styles leave digits plain, and so do the square styles. For non-bold looks like thin cursive or small caps, use the full font generator.
Where to use bold text
Bold works anywhere that accepts pasted text. A bold word earns its place where it tells people where to look: the hook of a caption, a label like ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ญ, a call to action like ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ถ๐, or the one bio line that matters most.
For platform-specific tips and limits, see the Instagram, Facebook and YouTube bold text generators, or the LinkedIn and X font generators, which cover bold too.
In Word, Google Docs or Gmail, use the app's own bold button instead. Spellcheck, search and screen readers treat Unicode bold as symbols rather than words.
Best practices and accessibility
- Bold a few words, not the whole post. If everything is bold, nothing stands out.
- Pick one bold style and stick with it so your posts look consistent.
- Keep usernames, hashtags and keywords plain. Handles only accept plain characters (Instagram Help), a bold hashtag is a different string from the plain one, and search matches plain letters.
- Leave room under character limits. Bold letters are stored as two 16-bit code units each (Unicode FAQ), and some counters count them as two.
- Remember screen readers. They may read each bold letter by its long name ("mathematical bold capital B") or skip it (Scope). Keep prices, dates and codes plain.
Schedule bold posts with ViralFarm
Bold text is ordinary Unicode once it's copied, so it publishes exactly as you pasted it, including from a scheduler. ViralFarm lets you plan posts for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube and X in one queue and calendar, then publishes them for you.
Each channel can have its own caption, so the styled version goes where it fits and a plain one goes everywhere else. ViralFarm can also turn a link, a topic or pasted text into carousel posts, on templates modeled after posts that went viral. There's a free plan, no credit card needed. See plans.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make text bold without a bold button?
Type your text in the generator above, copy a bold style such as Bold Sans and paste it where you want it. The bold letters are Unicode characters, so they stay bold in any app.
Is generated bold text a font?
No. It is a set of separate Unicode characters that look bold. That is why it pastes into apps that have no formatting options and looks the same for everyone.
Why are my numbers not bold?
Some bold styles have no bold digits. Bold, Bold Sans, Black Bubble and Starry Bold convert numbers; the italic, cursive, gothic and square styles leave them plain.
Can I make my username bold?
No. Usernames only accept plain letters, numbers and a few symbols. You can make your display name bold instead.
Should I use this in Word, Google Docs or email?
It works, but those apps have a real bold button, which is better. Spellcheck, search and screen readers treat Unicode bold as symbols, not words.
Will bold text look the same on every phone?
The characters are the same, but each device draws them with its own fonts, so weight and shape can differ slightly. Bold and Bold Sans display on all current phones; rarer styles may show as boxes on older devices.
Is the bold text generator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and you can copy as much as you like.
