  2. 2Browse the styles, or tap a filter like Cursive, Gothic or Bubble to narrow them down.
  3. 3Tap Copy on the font you want.

How this font generator works

Most apps don't let you change their font. Instagram, TikTok, X and the rest show your bio and captions in one system font, with no font menu and no bold button.

So this font changer doesn't change the font. It changes the characters. Unicode, the standard every phone and computer uses for text, includes whole alphabets of styled letters: bold, italic, script, fraktur (gothic) and double-struck (outline) in its Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, a few older look-alikes in the Letterlike Symbols block, and circled letters in Enclosed Alphanumerics. Type "Fancy" and the tool swaps each letter for its styled twin.

Because the result is real text, not a font file, it survives copy and paste and shows up the same way in any app that accepts text. Two things stay plain in every style: emoji, and accented letters such as รฉ or รฑ, since Unicode's styled alphabets only cover A to Z.

All 36 font styles, by type

Use the filters above the results to jump to a type. Each one has its own page with ideas and tips.

  • Bold (๐๐จ๐ฅ๐, ๐—•๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜€): the one to use when a word needs to stand out. See the bold text generator.
  • Italic (๐˜๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ค ๐˜š๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด): quotes, titles and quiet asides.

Where fancy fonts work

Anywhere you can type and paste text: bios, display names, captions, comments, DMs, group chats, notes and documents. A few fields are the exception.

  • Usernames and handles don't accept them. Instagram handles allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores (Instagram Help), X usernames letters, numbers and underscores (X Help), and TikTok usernames follow similar rules (TikTok Support). Style your display name instead.
  • Hashtags and @mentions should stay plain. A styled hashtag is a different string from the plain one, so it won't join the same hashtag page.
  • Documents have real fonts. In Word, Google Docs or Gmail, pick a font from the menu instead. Spellcheck and search treat these characters as symbols, not words.

Each platform has its own limits and quirks. For tips specific to one app, use the Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Threads, LinkedIn or Pinterest font generator.

Choosing a font style people can read

  • One accent style is enough. Three fonts in one bio reads as clutter. Pick one and use it the same way every time.
  • Style a few words, not the whole thing. A styled hook or label stands out because the rest is plain.
  • Keep keywords plain. Search matches plain letters, so a styled name or keyword can be harder to find. Instagram search, for example, matches what people type against usernames, bios, captions, hashtags and places (Instagram).
  • Screen readers struggle. They may read each styled letter by its long Unicode name, such as "mathematical bold capital B", or skip the word (Scope). Keep prices, dates, codes and links plain.
  • Some phones show boxes. Older devices may lack the rarer characters, most often from the Tiny and decorated styles. Bold, Italic and Cursive are the safest.
  • Character counts can run high. Most styled letters are stored as a pair of 16-bit code units (Unicode FAQ), and some counters treat each one as two characters. Leave room under limits like Instagram's 150-character bio (Instagram Help) or X's 160-character bio (X Help).

Schedule your styled posts with ViralFarm

Fancy text is ordinary text once it's copied, so it works anywhere you write a caption, including a scheduler. ViralFarm lets you plan posts for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube and X in one queue and calendar, then publishes them for you.

Each channel can have its own caption, so the styled version goes where it fits and a plain one goes everywhere else. ViralFarm can also turn a link, a topic or pasted text into carousel posts, on templates modeled after posts that went viral. There's a free plan, no credit card needed. See plans.

Frequently asked questions

Is this font generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and you can copy as many fonts as you want.

How do I change the font in an app like Instagram or TikTok?

Most apps have no font setting for bios, captions or comments. Type your text in the generator above, copy the style you like and paste it into the app. The styled letters are Unicode characters, so they show up as you see them here.

Are these real fonts?

Not in the usual sense. A font file changes how ordinary letters are drawn, and it only works where that font is installed. These are separate Unicode characters that look like styled letters, which is why they paste into any app and look the same for everyone who sees them.

Why do some letters show up as boxes?

The device showing the text doesn't have a glyph for that character. Bold, Italic and Cursive display on almost every modern phone and computer. Rarer styles, like Tiny or some decorated ones, are more likely to break on older devices.

Can I use fancy fonts in my username?

Usually not. Instagram, X and TikTok usernames only accept plain letters, numbers and a few symbols. You can style your display name instead, but keep your plain name somewhere on your profile so people can still find you in search.

Why did some letters stay the same?

Unicode only has styled versions of the plain letters A to Z, and some styles have gaps. Accented letters such as รฉ stay plain in every style, most styles have no styled numbers, and emoji and most punctuation never change.

Can I use these fonts in Word or Google Docs?

They paste fine, but documents have a real font menu, which is the better choice there. Spellcheck, search and screen readers treat these characters as symbols rather than words.
