Two kinds of bubble letters

"Bubble letters" means two different things. One is the puffy, outlined lettering people draw on posters, signs and notebooks, or spray as graffiti. The other is text you can type: letters inside little circles, like Ⓑⓤⓑⓑⓛⓔ.

This generator makes the second kind. Because they're real characters, they paste into Instagram, TikTok, texts and any other app that takes text. For a printed poster or a drawing, a design app with a rounded display typeface will serve you better.

How the bubble letter generator works

Unicode, the standard behind all the text on your phone, includes circled letters as real characters, and the generator swaps each letter you type for its circled version.

  • Bubble uses the circled Latin letters from Unicode's Enclosed Alphanumerics block, with both capitals and lowercase, plus circled digits: Ⓗⓐⓟⓟⓨ ②①ⓢⓣ.
  • Black Bubble uses the negative (filled) circled letters from the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement. Unicode only has capitals in that set, so everything comes out uppercase: 🅢🅐🅛🅔. Numbers turn into black circles too.

Punctuation, accented letters and emoji stay as you typed them. Want boxes instead of circles? Tap Square above the results for 🅂🅀🅄🄰🅁🄴🅂 and 🅱🅻🅰🅲🅺 🆂🆀🆄🅰🆁🅴🆂.

Bubble font ideas

Bubble letters are loud and playful, so they suit short, happy text.

  • Party and birthday posts: Ⓟⓐⓡⓣⓨ ⓣⓘⓜⓔ or a circled age in the caption.
  • Kids' brands, toy shops and bakeries: one bubble word in the bio sets the tone.
  • Sales and drops: a Black Bubble 🅝🅔🅦 or 🅢🅐🅛🅔 as the first word of a caption.
  • Fan accounts and gamer names: a bubble display name stands out in comments.

Keep bubble letters short

  • One or two words. A whole sentence of circles is slow to read, and Black Bubble in all caps reads as shouting.
  • Keep usernames, hashtags and keywords plain. Handles only accept plain characters (Instagram Help), a bubble hashtag won't join the plain hashtag's page, and search matches plain letters.
  • Mind screen readers. They may read each circle by its full name, such as "circled Latin capital letter B" (Scope). Keep prices, dates and links plain.
  • Counts differ between the two styles. White bubble letters are single characters, but black ones sit outside Unicode's basic range and are stored as two 16-bit code units each (Unicode FAQ), so some counters count them as two.

Schedule your posts with ViralFarm

Bubble letters are ordinary text once copied, so they publish exactly as pasted, including from a scheduler. ViralFarm lets you plan posts for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Threads, YouTube and X in one queue and calendar, then publishes them for you.

Each channel can have its own caption, so the styled version goes where it fits and a plain one goes everywhere else. ViralFarm can also turn a link, a topic or pasted text into carousel posts, on templates modeled after posts that went viral. There's a free plan, no credit card needed. See plans.

Frequently asked questions

How do I type bubble letters?

Type your text in the generator above, then copy the Bubble or Black Bubble style and paste it where you want it. Each letter becomes a circled Unicode character.

Can I use bubble letters on Instagram and TikTok?

Yes. They work in bios, display names, captions, comments and DMs. Usernames won't accept them, since handles only allow plain letters, numbers and a few symbols.

Why is Black Bubble always in capital letters?

Unicode only includes capital letters in its filled-circle set, so the generator turns everything uppercase for that style. The white Bubble style keeps your lowercase letters.

Do numbers work in bubble letters?

Yes. Both styles turn the digits 0 to 9 into circled numbers: white circles in Bubble and black circles in Black Bubble.

Can I use these for a poster or a drawing?

They'll print, but they're letters inside circles, not the puffy outlined letters people draw on posters. For print, a design app with a rounded display typeface gives you that look.

Is the bubble font generator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and you can copy as much as you like.
